Moratorium on Alfalfa proposed - We have an important part to play!

A few weeks ago bill C-474, a bill proposed to study the effects of GM crops on Canada's export markets was defeat.  Late last week the Liberal party made a proposal to place a moratorium on the approval of genetically modified alfalfa.
This proposal would give the government time to examine the effects that GM Alfalfa would have on farmers in Canada.
Beyond that this moratorium shows that there is growing political pressure being applied to our politicians on this issue.
People are unsure about GM crops, and they want independent and critical answers to their questions!
This is another opportunity to let the government know your opinion on GMOs in our food supply.
Please write to Larry Miller and tell him that you support this moratorium.
It's especially important that we, the citizens of Bruce-Grey-Owen-Sound tell Mr. Miller how we feel because he holds the critical position as head of the agricultural committee in Ottawa.
He has the power to either push forward or stall this proposal.
For more information and for tools to help you please visit www.cban.ca/alfalfa
There's also an animation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-3_wa_bgOI) there that you can share with friends to help spread the important message about
his moratorium.
Thank-you for your attention to this issue!  While we work locally to create resiliency we must keep one foot in the muck, still engaged with national and provincial affairs lest the rug get pulled out from under us!
