The LocalMotive Project

Building resilience in the Saugeen Region.

On May 18, 2011 we lost our dear Around the Sound Local Food Market to extensive damage from a fire caused by one wayward cigarette from one of the apartments above.  The repercussions of such a disaster are enormous.  This campaign initiated by a group of Around the Sound customers, is to raise funds for Anne Finlay-Stewart, founder of Around the Sound.  These funds are not going toward a re-start, but we hope it will provide the morale and financial impetuous for Anne to continue this fantastic community service.

What We Need & What You Get

The goal of this campaign is to raise $10,000 through indiegogo.com and at Trophies Two.  It would only take 400 donations of $25 each to meet that goal.

Each $25 you donate will put your name in several draws to receive the themed “Perks” - various services, gift certificates, or merchandise  generously donated from local businesses.  The more you donate, the better your chances to win any of the donations listed on the right.  It is a way of saying thanks for believing in Around the Sound!

Donations can be made through this indiegogo.com or in person at

Trophies Two, 840 2nd Ave. E., 519-376-9280

The Story of Around the Sound

Around the Sound Local Food Market opened in December 2008 and gave our community access to organic food, fresh produce from over 130 local farmers chefs, and bakers.  People with various food allergies and intolerances found quality choices.

Around the Sound began and grew thanks to Anne Finlay-Stewart, her staff, food producers, culinary specialists, volunteers and a community desire for this service.  The store has expanded and the most recent evolution was the “Community Kitchen”, a place to share knowledge and skills surrounding the art of food preparation, cooking, and baking.

There is not a more nourishing way to weave a community together than by connecting the local food producers with the conscientious consumer.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and passing it on!

We also want to thank Bryan Leckie at Instant Print for taking care of the print media, Trophies Two and all the businesses who have donated!
