Democracy is a Verb.

I recently conducted a quick sidewalk poll asking people for the definition of democracy. Most of the answers fell into two broad gene

That’s Premier Bognor Bill to you...

For a while I thought I could resist weighing in on last week’s hoopla over Bill Murdoch’s desire to give Toronto the big rubber boot out of Ontario. After all it’s maple syrup season and time’s-a-wastin’, but after reading several Toronto based commentaries on the fracas, I simply couldn’t sit it out.

Life After Growth

The following article is a must-read for anyone concerned with the future of your community or family. It is long, but please take 30 minutes and read it! It is written by Richard Heinburg, and closely parallels my own journey (albeit later) on the road to understanding our economic future.

A Great Day for the Local Food Movement.

Today is a great day for the local food movement. Durham farmer Michael Schmidt was acquitted today on all charges related to his cow-share program. Members can now legally continue to obtain and consume raw milk through cow-share programs as they are technically "owners", not purchasers, of raw milk. Th… Continue

Welcome to the new LocalMotive Project website.

If there's one thing I dislike intensely, it's long hours at the desk, and if you have the web-skills that I have (pretty much zippo!) then creating a website erases days from your life. Snow shoveling never looked so appealing. But thanks to the help of Ryan (the master) Wiseman, we now have a network/workspace that I think is as good as it comes; at least in terms of what I can work with. No more weight loss ads, fake virus warnings, and incompatibilities with obsolete browsers. Just pure, sw… Continue
