Was kinda shy to announce that, but we now have a website transitionmeaford.org

Come see and forward all feedback to me. The site is still in the works so I'd like to hear how we can improve it.

Call for action on Climate Change.

At an historic meeting in Ottawa on October 23rd and 24th, some 30 faith communities of Canada met on Parliament Hill and discussed the urgent need for ecological justice, especially with regards to the climate change crisis. Kepp reading:

If anybody is interested in homeschooling come to the first homeschooler's skate at Meaford Arena Nov 11, 2011 (this Friday) at 1:30pm.
What we do: We skate for an hour and then enjoy a shared snack and fellowship.
It's $10 per visit or $40 for 4 visits.

Weather permitting, we intend to spread straw over the second half of the community garden tomorrow, Saturday, November 5th starting at 9:00 am.
If you have the time, energy and desire to join the work team, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

When I think of the phrase "a more resilient community", it means to me that the people in the community are more self-reliant. For example, right now, if the power goes out, do you have a means of cooking food? Can you cook from scratch? Do you grow any of your own food?

Hello all.
I am new to this group, but am very interested in this topic.
"A more resilient community" seems to be a somewhat vague term. What do we even mean by that?
I am wondering if members can share what their ideas and views are in this matter, and what efforts have been made so far.
All the best, and good luck to us all!

@ Jason, the Official Plan review is ongoing and will be over the balance of this year. I am presently working on some new policies and one of the areas I am researching is 'backyard chickens'. I suppose I'd be interested in information about how many/houshold, what type of housing structures would be used/preferred, best practices that would apply etc...My task is to prepare a complete and balanced review of the issue to provide to Council for consideration.
