The LocalMotive Project

Building resilience in the Saugeen Region.

Tonight Nathan Carey (transition Neustadt) and I officially embarked on the project of producing a short animation to illustrate the re-localization concept in a clear and inspiring way. We are planning to use the 4 points of "scale down, slow down, democratize, decentralize" to frame the vision of the movement, leading to the conclusion of building community and resilience.
It will be exciting to see how it develops. The intention is to use it online as well as showing it as an introduction at meetings and events.
I'll try to post our progress as we go, and if anyone has input and feedback please offer it.

Great idea and project undertaken!

First time I have seen the four quadrants. Very interesting. Have been interested in the global Slow Movement for some years and Carl Honoré's book: In Praise of Slow. Have suggested several times to people and City Hall that Owen Sound formally declare itself and join the Slow Cities movement. There are/were very specific suggested strategies and programs on the Slow Cities website. Haven't been there for a couple of years. Will check it out and report.

All the best with the development of the animation!
Such ideas are often difficult for "officials" to accept, as the prevailing economic ethos is "more & faster". The animation will attempt to illustrate clearly the futility of this and hopefully produce a paradigm shift in the minds of people.
