Georgian College is hosting a series of re skilling, sustainable living workshops this fall. See the course descriptions below. Please forward this to anyone you might think would be interested. If these are successful they are planning on continuing the series!

Honey Bees
GINT 0192
This course will teach you how to produce
your own honey and beeswax. Learn all about
bee biology, hive care and the importance of
pollination. Become familiar with how bee hives
work, how to care for them and how to make and
harvest honey and beeswax. The instructor will
bring bees in to the class so students can get a
close-up look at a bee hive. Students will also have
the opportunity to sample some local honey.

Breadmaking

Ever wanted to make your own bread but felt
intimidated by the process? This is the perfect
workshop for you! Learn what makes a perfect
loaf of bread, from picking the best ingredients
to kneading to baking. This course is a hands-on
learning experience that will have you baking the
perfect loaf in no time. Each participant comes
home with their own loaf of bread.

Renewable Energy
GINT 0193
Learn about harnessing the power of the energy
available around us. This workshop covers small
scale wind, solar (photovoltaics) and solar thermal.
Micro-hydro will be included if there is interest.
Participants will leave with an understanding of
the ins and outs of renewable systems and where
they are best applied. Participants will also learn
to assess their own specifi c power usage and how
to build a system to suit their needs. Basic system
costs will also be covered. Participants are asked to
bring their hydro bill to class.
