DESCRIPTION:What can we do in our region to work on solutions to curta
 il and turn around biodiversity loss? Authors such as David W. Orr hav
 e called the biological loss a \"biological holocaust\" This symposium
  will take place on Sunday, June 6 instead of May 22 since that is the
  Victoria week-end and many people may not be available to attend. Thi
 s meeting will be the first of several to discuss and map out a strate
 gy that will bring us to a larger symposium and implement an action pl
 an in the fall.\n2010 is the International year for Biodiversity but S
 aturday, May 22 is the day that it has been celebrated for years, and 
 for many, a day to recognize that we must do far more if our Earth is 
 to be recognizable in twenty-five years. All we have to do is look at 
 the International Union for the Conservation of Nature's Red List or r
 ead E.O. Wilson's pleas for defending life on Earth, to realize there 
 is a crisis happening.that will affect any attempt to create local res
 iliency. The UN's 2010 target for biodiversity failed. It's time we mo
 ved swiftly. This is a call to action for our community. Please join o
